JERSEY SPORTING DOGS
References
We know there can be a lot of uncertainties when buying a puppy or dog from a breeder that is out of state.  We make every effort to stay in touch with all our puppies and dogs as they go to their new homes.  It is very important for us to evaluate each litter we whelp here so we can continue to produce only Braque Francais of excellent quality.  We welcome anyone interested in our  puppies to come out and spend some time getting to know us and our dogs.  If you are just to far away for a visit, we hope the thoughts shared with us from our past puppy buyers will help  Here is  what some of them had to say.

Dear Mike and Karen,
I could not be more pleased with my pup out of your 2004 litter.  She is now 18 months old and we are enjoying her first full season on both wild and semi-wild birds.  Her evolution as a bird dog has been as easy as you told me it would be.  Everyone that meets her comments on what a great looking dog she is.  She is also an outstanding companion in the home as well.  I can tell you I will never own any other breed of dog again.

Dear Karen and Mike,

Our experience with you has been a great one since our first phone call to Jersey Sporting Dogs.  We’d admired French Pointers from afar through magazine articles and online websites, and were so happy to find a dedicated breeder in this part of the country.  We appreciate your commitment to the breed, your love for them, your experience with them and your willingness to share your knowledge.  We love our puppy from your 2005 litter and can’t imagine life without him.  He’s a beautiful, intelligent, affectionate and curious dog that’s added much warmth and color to our lives.  Thank you.

Dear Karen and Mike,
I just wanted to update you on Brinks, now 15 mo old.  He is the dog you claimed he would be and more.  I am so proud of him to say the least.  Brinks has impressed me and everyone that has hunted with us at my club with his drive, rock solid points and his natural retrieving skills.  I have enjoyed watching his progression this year from the cute, smart little puppy he was when I picked him up last December, to the serious bird dog that not only pleases in the field, but even more in our home.  The relationship between Brinks and my two young boys is one that I can only describe as priceless.  Thank you both for your commitment to this wonderful breed.

Karen and Mike:
I am so pleased that I happened across your website while looking for a short hair pointer or pointing lab to join our family and to lead the way hunting. I had not previously heard of this breed, but everything about this breed noted on your website and in the linked article has proven true. Brock is picking things up at an incredible rate, and has an exceptional temperament with our 3 children. The Braque Francais is truly a dog that strives to please its owner... you can see this in everything we do together. I don't mind saying that he is also quite a handsome lad with a good nose. It was also great to meet the two of you after all our wonderful interactions leading up to the day I picked up Brock. Your dedication to your dogs and the warm and professional way you treat your clients is truly refreshing. Thanks for everything.

Mike and Karen,
I cannot tell you how pleased we are with Lilly. She is growing both physically and mentally everyday. She is a fast learner and a great pal. We are so pleased we met you through your website and then in person. Everything that is/was presented to us regarding the Braque Francais pointer is true. Fast learning, easy to train, listens, well behaved and good with children.
Thank you so much again.

Hi Mike and Karen,
River has turned out great!
He went on his first Pheasant hunt on his 6 month birthday and I couldn't believe how he did.
He pointed out four birds, he broke point on a running bird and pointed again after it stopped, then after we flushed the bird and shot it he retrieved it like a well trained dog.
I just cant believe the natural hunting ability this dog has, River is nothing but the best, I wouldn't sell him for anything.
This was the first time he was ever in the field, I had only worked with him in the yard.
Thanks again for a great dog, and a great friend.

Just a quick update…
I took Corbie out this weekend and decided to try shooting a bird over her.  We went to the shooting preserve (not exactly wild birds) and hunted her on some chukars.  She did amazing!  She pointed 4 birds and held the point every time until I got over to her and flushed the bird.  We shot 3 of the 4 birds and she retrieved all of them.  This was her first retrieval attempt on a shot bird and she brought them back in top notch form.  One of the birds was wounded and landed and ran.  She tracked it and actually held it down with her paws while I walked over to her.  Another bird was still alive and she brought it to my feet.  She has no evidence of hard mouth at all.  There were several guys there (including the owner and a guide) and they couldn't believe that she is only 4 months old.
She is still young and there are areas yet to work on – but she is amazing thus far!  She is also very easy to train.
Anyway – thanks again…

Hi Mike & Karen,
Thank you for the registration papers. And especially thank you for breeding top notch puppies!  Lucy is my 4th gun dog plus I've been around a number of hunting partners' dogs and FWIW I have participated in a number of hunting trials with my last German Shorthair when she was 1 to 2 years old.  After 30 years of experience I know the difference between poor, OK and good dogs....
Just got back from taking 5 1/2 month old Lucy on a 4 day pheasant hunt in South Dakota. It was incredible!!  She honestly outperformed any year old bird dog I have ever seen.  Lucy went from never having been worked on ANY birds to repeatable
pointing totally wild pheasants in just 4 days. I honestly am
amazed.  She consistently worked close (20-30 yards) and had staunch points without any training. Chased down a wounded bird about 80 yards through medium cover and a long ditch.
Talk about good genes! Well worth the long wait for a puppy and the expense

Hi Mike & Karen,
Hope this e-mail finds you doing well.  I wanted to share with you an experience I had yesterday.  I though you would appreciate it. Briar is now 5 ½ months old and 30lbs and seems to have enough knowledge and listens well enough for me to give him some solid bird experience.  I took Briar to a trainer who trains award winning GSPs with 30 years experience.  He also does training at Cabela’s and has experience with all sporting dogs.  He started with fine tuning the basic manners training we’ve been doing at home.  Briar did fantastic and the trainer gave us a ton of stuff to work on for next time.  The trainer then brings down 4 homing pigeons and a couple quail.  He starts with the pigeons, just getting Briar used to the wing flapping and a bird flying off in front of him.  Then he sleeps a quail.  Briar finds it after a bit and holds a strong point.  He goes, “there’s your pups first point.”  The trainer puts out another and yet again, another strong point, hold and flush.  Papa was proud.  As we walked up after we were done, the trainer said, “You know the whole time I was evaluating your pup.  His desire to please is great.  At this point, I would give him an 8 or 9 out of 10.”
Thanks again!  Couldn’t be a happier or prouder owner!
